Day 3: We're Back on the Grid | Alex Carruthers

Guys, we just want to say we are sorry. We know you have been on the edge of your seats for the last day and a half. We had a slight Wifi mishap, but we are back now. We kindly ask for yall’s patience as some of these albergues advertise false Wifi.

This is easily one of the most amazing trips we have ever taken.  Yesterday, we left Zubiri, Spain around 7 am and arrived in Pamplona, Spain around 1230.  We walked about 21 kilometers in about five and a half hours.  That’s really good timing.
Now two nights ago was something.  We had the privilege of listening to a snoring symphony in our very own alburgue.  I might argue that it was Mozart’s 10th symphony, but Murray is adamant that it was Beethoven’s 5th.  Who knows.  Either way it kept us up until we finally put our ear plugs in and were able to fall back asleep.  And despite what our friend Murray said in the previous post, your boy was NOT included in that previous snoring session.  Nor was I included in this one.

At our first stop along the Way, we stopped at this great coffee shop on the Arga river at around 9:30, and we ordered a ham sandwich and a coke.  It was just the fuel that we needed.  We ran into some of our Colorado, California, and Ireland friends at this coffee shop.  It was a little Camino reunion.  I finally got to meet the other UGA student doing the Camino right now.  She was a very nice girl and had just graduated college, so she is getting ready to get into the big bad world.  Go dawgs to that.

Yesterday was extremely beautiful. We walked along the Arga river and have been walking up and down hills admiring the different landscapes that Spain has to offer.  I loved yesterday, especially walking into Pamplona, which is a pretty big city (population 200,000) and is most commonly known for the running of the bulls.

It took us a while to find where we were going to stay in Pamplona.  We originally tried the Hostel Hemmingway which was about a mile and a half out of the way.  We thought it would be worth it because it was pretty nice and affordable, and we could get a room of just us two.  Oh, and it had wifi.  It’s really the whole sha-bang.  But the only problem was that it was full.  So that makes it a little harder to be able to stay there.  Then we walked to two other alburgues, and they were full and we finally begged the owner of the current one we are staying in to let us stay without a reservation.  It is pretty nice.  We get to have our own room which is great, but the only complaint is that there is not any wifi here.  Biggest amenity is that Murray and I are sleeping in the same bed. Things are getting wild here in Spain.

Hope everyone is having a good day.  Buen Camino.
